Enrique Marquez Banda is a shepherd from Chihuahua, Mexico working here in Missoula, Montana. The flock of around 400 ewes and lambs Enrique tends to are responsible for clearing entire mountainsides of weeds that would otherwise be sprayed with chemicals. Such chemical treatments prevent wildflowers from blooming on the mountainsides. The grazing of Enrique's sheep however allow the flowers to keep on blooming. Enduring the weather and solitude is no easy job, nor is keeping the flock safe from wolves and dogs. We salute you Enrique.
